Saskatchewan’s linen services provider is operating at the peak of its industry.
K-Bro Linen Systems was recently re-accredited by HLAC, the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council. HLAC is a non-profit organization that recognizes laundry service providers that process reusable textiles for hospitals, long-term care homes, and other health system facilities.
“The HLAC process is a confirmation of the hard work and high standards that K-Bro sets for itself,” said general manager Barb Lewis. “K-Bro prides itself on its commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and staff, and we are very proud that this commitment is being recognized by this industry-leading organization.”
HLAC inspects their facilities and ensures they are meeting the highest standards for ensuring reusable linens are hygienically clean, and also delivering patient safety and infection prevention. It also considers the state of its facilities, policies and procedures, training programs, and its relationships with its healthcare customers.
The recognition shows Saskatchewan is receiving high-quality service.
“K-Bro has provided excellent service to the Saskatchewan health system over the last eight years,” acknowledged the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Kateri Singer, the Director of Environmental Services’ Program Support & Standards branch. “This accreditation shows that the people of Saskatchewan can continue to have confidence in the high quality of their work.”
This is the eighth year that K-Bro has been providing linen services to the Saskatchewan health system, supplying 160 facilities with over 29 million pounds of linen annually. The team carries out independent quality testing and facilitates product and process improvement, as well as provincial standardization. The HLAC accreditation renewal follows the extension of K-Bro’s contract last May, which will see the company continue to provide its services for another eight years.
This accreditation remains in place for a three-year period, at which point it can be renewed after another inspection process.
