Job Summary

We are seeking an individual who has a passion for governance and employee benefit plans to become a member of the Board of Trustees. This appointment will be for a four-year term, with the potential for up to two additional terms.

Since 1967, the 3sHealth Employee Benefits team has acted as the administrator of the employee benefits plans on behalf of the Board of Trustees. The Employee Benefit Plan Trusts include the Group Life Insurance Plan, four Disability Income Plans, Core Dental Plan, In-Scope Extended Health Care and Enhanced Dental Plan, Out-of-Scope Extended Health Care and Enhanced Dental Plan, Out-of-Scope Flexible Spending Plan, and the Retired Plan Member Life Insurance Benefit Plan. 

3sHealth Employee Benefits is the caretaker of the $650 million trust fund assets and investments and provides support to the Board of Trustees, who have the ultimate fiduciary responsibility to the beneficiaries of the Trusts.

Required Qualifications

The Employee Benefit Plans Board of Trustees is responsible for decisions on the operation and administration of the Plans in accordance with the Trust Agreements. 

In fulfilling your duties as a Trustee you will:

  • Attend a minimum of five meetings per year plus the annual retreat.
  • Review all meeting packages in advance. The meeting packages include financial statements, investment performance reports, actuarial reports, administrator reports, and other materials related to the governance and administration of the Trusts.
  • Attend mandatory education, and other education events.

Experience

Interested candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following skills:

  • executive leadership,
  • governance,
  • financial management and investments,
  • actuarial services,
  • risk management,
  • strategic planning,
  • public policy,
  • legal and compliance,
  • human resources,
  • plan administration, and
  • labour relations.
